Because I switched wireless carriers, I posted my former device for sale on Craigslist. Along with serious inquiries, I’m in receipt of many “phishing” ones. Note, the phishers always offer well above your listed price for the product. Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Below is one of the exchanges:
Phisher: What’s your firm price and i hope that it is in perfect working condition?
MoMo: It is in perfect working condition and I have the original box. I can throw in the car charger too.
Phisher: Hello,
I am very grateful to hear back from you.I am a University Senior Lecturer residing in Texas. The package is for my son’s Birthday gift, due to his brilliant performance,he was currently transferred from USA to West Africa with his team on important research under world Health Organization. Kindly send me your PayPal money request or your PayPal email so that i will send you the Cash payment. If you don’t have a PayPal account, Log onto WWW.PayPal.com and set an account with PayPal, it is easy and free to set up an account with PayPal. MoMo: I was born at night, but not last night.
Phisher: sorry i don’t get what you mean madam
MoMo: It means that I realize you’re a nefarious scheming hustler.
I love how he tries to dhv with the title of doctor lol
The scammers never mention what they are actually buying. They always refer to what you are selling as your “item,” “product,” “package,” or similarly ambiguous term.
Everyone who posts anything gets those automatic form messages. I usually just delete them, but sometimes it is fun to play with them…
