Eventually, the sushi place was closing.  He suggested we continue the date.  For those of you who follow the blog, you know that this could only lead to one place:  T.G.I. Friday’s.  Sigh.  We went to Friday’s.  I had a glass of wine.  I then had another.  I knew after those two glasses, in addition to the wine at the sushi place, my pregame glass, my hunger strike, and the power struggle, I was at risk of unleashing the crazy if  I had any more.  I told him just that.  He insisted that he liked that I was coming out of my shell.  I pleaded, “If I have any more, I will completely abandon shell and that’s not good.”  I got up to use the restroom again.  When I returned, there was a glass waiting out for me. Not drinking it would have been wasteful.  So, I drank it.  Cue the crazy.  Wine-exacerbated hormonal turbulence ensued.  I told him how pathetic it was that my life has come down to this (i.e., being at Friday’s).  I went on to explain that my youth is withering away in nowhereland and that I feel trapped.  He responded by saying that I was right about the last glass of wine.  I told him he was free to leave.   In fact, I urged him to leave.  He stayed.   The cloud migrated away from my head.

I was so confused as to what was going on with this date.  Was I having fun?  Did we get along?  I had no idea.  He said he was having a good time and wanted to see me again, but I did not have a sense of clarity.  Before we left, he inquired about securing a bar tending position at Friday’s.  Yeah.  That actually happened.

He walked me to my car and extended his hand for a traditional handshake.  I gave him a hug instead.  I wasn’t surprised about the handshake gesture because during our stay at beautiful Friday’s, he had attempted to pull me closer to him at one point and I presented the “be careful when you touch me” lecture.  (I don’t like people I don’t know touching me.)  His final words were a request for me to text him when I got home regardless of whether I wanted to see him again or not.  I called him when I drove off (I think to ask about the handshake).  We ended up talking for another hour.  Then, I went to sleep.

THE END

P.S. – Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t think he’s really a vampire and I left with all of my blood within me and my neck intact.
